New Zealand New Zealand is Dirty

Who watched the excellent NZ TV program "Hidden in the Numbers"?

Last night was the final episode and it really hit home. I was a bit too stunned to remember all the facts but they included these lovely snippets:

- We make more rubbish per person than America.
- Our "environmental footprint" is amongst the worst in the world, several times as bad as European countries.
- If everyone in the world used resources at the same rate as New Zealand, we would need three more planets to sustain the population.

We can't keep pretending we are clean and green. As the show pointed out, it only seems that we are clean because there are so few of us. That situation is changing and we need to change as well.

We are one of the dirtiest countries in the world. What are we going to do about it?
